Support the rights of NJ sex workers (2 for 1 Match!)

New Jersey Red Umbrella Alliance and the Best Practices Policy Project have been offered matching funds by a generous donor for our joint work in NJ and beyond. Every dollar donated is matched.

All donations up to $7500 will be matched by our generous donor, the Ben and Jerry Foundation. All donations are tax deductible. All the money given and matched will be put in service of our work in NJ. Donating now is therefore a triple win for NJ sex workers.

We are two organizations working together to build campaigns, provide services and seek justice for sex workers in the state of NJ. New Jersey Red Umbrella Alliance (NJ RUA) is an alliance of activists and allies who are dedicated to promoting, defending, and advocating for the human rights of sex workers in the state of New Jersey. The Best Practices Policy Project (BPPP) works intersectionally to support organizations and advocates working with sex workers, people in the sex trade and related communities. Together we recognize the stigma, violence and other forms of human rights violations that stem from criminalization, we wish to counter this through public education, documentation and community organizing.

With the funds raised via the Fundly we will:

  • Build our community voice as sex workers directly impacted by incarceration through trainings and access to resources
  • Providing stipends, direct support, legal fees to keep people out of jail
  • Give material support for emergency housing, medical bills, emergency food funds, childcare costs, harm reduction
  • Support sex workers behind bars through letter writing and linking to transitional services
  • Promote the decriminalization of our lives through public communication strategies and educational meetings with justice systems
  • Provide peer led interventions for fellow sex workers that measurably reduce the harms of policing of drug use/trade, sex work and other subsistence-based trade. These interventions will include outreach, meetings, referrals and the provision of emergency support to those facing potential incarceration.
